CPAs who add value
History
Three independent Memphis CPA firms merged in 2006 to form Frazee Ivy Davis. Each had a similar story of an entrepreneur who once took “the plunge” into one-room practice. Each made clients of friends, made friends of clients, joined with talented associates, and grew and prospered as clients generated wealth and sought planning solutions. Our leaders can tell dozens of stories about how we’ve learned success firsthand.
Mergers sometimes seem like beginnings, but our roots extend to 1956, when William M. Frazee started a sole proprietorship near the long-ago boundary of east Memphis on Poplar Avenue. As the Frazee firm grew, good fortune accompanied relationships with numerous property operators, developers, contractors, manufacturers, merchants, physicians, lawyers, and other allies.
There is nothing staggering about the idea of 50 years in business because the Frazee formula for longevity is simple – dedication to clients and capable people. Some of the earliest clients and all of the spirit of dedication remain with us today. We also remain on Poplar Avenue, but considerably farther east in what has been the financial center of our city for the past 20 years.
Today’s senior leaders applied the same entrepreneurial formula to organize talented people for extraordinary service. John Ivy went into business in 1987, Jerry Davis in 1988, and Alex Ivy in 1996. Each was formerly an associate at a larger Memphis firm – and interestingly, John was a staff associate with the Frazee firm in the early 1980s. William A. “Bill” Frazee, the founder”s son, and Buddy Clements are our partners who have led the Frazee firm for many years.
Today, we have a staff of more than 25 highly capable and qualified people. We have many long-term relationships because we offer clear, succinct, and expert advice about financial circumstances. That has always been and will continue to be our trademark.
